Wow it’s been a busy few days.
On Friday we went downtown around 4 and met Chris and Andrew for a quick coffee. We then went for a wee walk around and eventually ended up at Sanini’s (I think) an Italian restaurant. I had an Americana pizza which was delicious. It was the pizza base with salami on it then cheese then meatballs, yum!
From there we headed over to The Polo Lounge to meet up with Paula and Sabah. I actually had a lot of fun and everyone got on really well. Tim, Chris and I ended up doing two jager bombs each because I’d bought six but Sabah, Paula and Andrew didn’t want.
A funny moment ensued when we were walking back to the station. Some random woman was walking along stoatin’ drunk and fell down some stairs, she fell flat on her face, didn’t even put her hands out or nothing so her face must’ve smacked the pavement pretty hard. Yet she managed to keep her cigarette in her hand. Anyway Tim wanted to go and help her but Paula told him that no we don’t do that here.
On Saturday we went to Culzean Castle with my Mum and Linzi. On the way we stopped at Burns Cottage in Ayr which was lovely and historical. After that we took a drive down to Girvan where we got a chippie for lunch, which had something I really wanted. Tim and I had sausage suppers and my Mum got a haggis supper which she let Tim try a bit of, he wasn’t impressed. After lunch we finally got to Culzean and we went for a walk round the lake and then to see the deer before heading home cos we were cold.
On Saturday night we had Amy MacDonald in concert at the Barrowlands so we got the train into town and then walked along there. I love the Barrowlands, it’s got a great history. Amy was really good and finished the night with A Fairytale in New York which made my day. Her new songs sound good too.
On Sunday we decided to have a bit of a lazy day and so we went up to EK for a walkabout. Tim drove up and did very good driving, five roundabouts and two right turns! He had a bit of an episode in the car park though cos we had to go all the way to the 10th floor.
I’ve been need a new watch for a week or two now since my old one died and then when I went to work to get it fixed on Friday the strap broke. So when we were in Debenhams I had a look at the watches and they had a really nice one for £60 (£48 after 20% discount) but that was a bit expensive for me so Tim bought it with his insurance money as a present for me. So sweet, I love it. The watch I mean, not Tim. I love him too tho.
Later in the day we went to see Twilight which I was kinda disappointed by. The book was good but it was slow, which is fine in a book. It doesn’t work so well in a movie. I dread to think what New Moon is gonna be like since it has even less action.
Monday was meeting Mandy, Emma, Dad and Lorene. First though we did some sight seeing in Glasgow. We went to the Provand’s Lordship which is the oldest house in Glasgow and was built in 1471. Tim’s visit has made me appreciate my country’s history more because our history is so old. History for the US is 200 years old, here it can be anything up to 1000 years or more.
Next up was the Necropolis which was a bit creepy, and then Glasgow Cathedral which I’d never been to but found pretty amazing. How the hell did they manage to build these things in the 16th century? After that we walked back down to George Square and met Mandy and Emma at the mulled wine stand. Tim had some mulled wine which he says was lovely, I’ll take him on his word at that.
After Linzi and Callum showed up we all walked down to Princes Square to meet Dad and Lorene and go for late lunch/dinner at The Restaurant. It was good fun, apparently I got Dad and Lorene into a sticky situation up north tho. I sent my Granny and Grandad a Christmas card from me and Tim just to put his name out there and it was on them if they pursued it or not. Apparently they did, when Dad and Lorene were up they asked him who he was and Lorene had to tell them the whole sordid story. That’ll be fun next time I’m up!
Once dinner was over we went for a walk round Frasers and then to Oddbins to pick up a bottle of Jagermeister since Callum and Linzi were gonna come round and play cards. It was £19 for the bottle and it was pretty big: Tim, Callum and I pretty much polished it off last night. It was really good fun tho. I’m glad they came round, they got on really well with Tim.
Today was supposed to be going to Edinburgh but after all the busyness of the past few days we decided to have a lazy day and instead arranged to have lunch with Kirstin. It went as well as could be expected. Tim and Paula get on well which is cool.
After Tim had a quick power nap we went to Rouken Glen garden centre to pick out our tree ornament (and make Tim a dashing cowboy) then to Sainsburys so we could pick stuff up to cook dinner for my Mom. In the end we decided to make chicken parmesan and it turned out really good. We also had boursin cheese and parma ham with bread. All in all a yummy meal.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we’re having my grandparents round for dinner and then it’ll be Christmas Day. It’s gonna be another busy few days so I’ll prolly not update till after Xmas so Merry Christmas everyone!
